Indianapolis, IN – August 1, 2025 - Massillamany Jeter & Carson LLP is launching an investigation into serious allegations that a former Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) case manager, identified as Sara Wood, falsified records and improperly documented child abuse and neglect cases.
According to local news reports, Ms. Wood served as a Family Case Manager between 2021 and 2024 and is accused of reporting visits with at least three families who assert they were never met by her—a key failure potentially influencing abusive or neglect findings. Investigators allege she lied about conducting visits and entered false abuse records, leading to charges of Official Misconduct, obstruction of child abuse assessment, and falsifying abuse records. She was arrested on July 30, 2025, and released on a $750 bond.
Massillamany Jeter & Carson LLP is representing individuals and families who may have been impacted by Ms. Wood’s work while employed by DCS. We believe that any falsification of records by a state employee could have profound repercussions on family integrity and child safety and may constitute a violation of civil rights. This alleged misconduct demands accountability.
