Tiffani Mathews, a Hendricks County mother, filed a formal complaint with the Indiana Department of Education over the school district's failure to address her son's special needs. After several requests to have her son evaluated to be given the education that he deserves, the district retaliated against her son, banning him from receiving aid from the school guidance counselor. Mathews' attorney, Tom Blessing, reveals that "schools have to follow a federal mandate which requires them to identify and evaluate children with disabilities."
