Parents in Fisher are furious, stating that the Hamilton Southeastern School District failed to provide their special needs children with certain services, and claiming that HSE is in violation of federal law.
Attorney Tom Blessing has been hired by one family who says the district retaliated against their son, who has a rare form of muscular dystrophy called mitochondrial disease.
“It’s violating federal law. The school has a duty under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act to provide him with an education and his IEP (Individualized Education Plan) spells out what school is supposed to be doing.”
