Local Doctor Raises Questions About Mt. Vernon School Board Mask Mandate

The CDC mask guidance has not been consistent, which has raised concerns among some medical professionals. One such professional, a local doctor, presented his concerns to the Mt. Vernon School Board.

The family medicine physician questioned the effectiveness of mask mandates, particularly those that only apply to unvaccinated individuals. He argues that respiratory particles are small enough to get through masks – and that fully vaccinated people can still spread the virus that causes COVID-19.

According to the doctor, mask mandates will not keep local children safe. He respectfully asked the Mt. Vernon School Board to reconsider its stance, and members of the audience applauded.
